Oman is implementing road projects worth more than RO105 million ($273 million) in North A'Sharqiyah Governorate over 2025 and 2026 as it expands the country's transport infrastructure under its Vision 2040 strategy, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said.

These projects include the construction of new roads, expansion of the existing network and the dualisation of key highways linking residential, industrial and tourist areas across the governorate's wilayats.

Giving a project update, Oman’s ministry said steady progress is being made on the 9-km-long Aqabat Wadi Bani Khalid road with more than 85% work already completed. Once ready, it will connect the centre of Wadi Bani Khalid with tourism, commercial and economic areas.

The ministry has also awarded a RO29.1 million contract to dualise the 15.6-km Al Yahmedi Al Qafisi road in the Wilayat of Ibra, while work continues on a road linking the communities of Mahlah, Ghubrat Al Tam and Ismailiyat Al Khabah in Dima Wa Al Taaiyin at a cost of over RO8 million.

In addition, the ministry recently awarded five road contracts, including a RO4.8 million project linking Ibra and Dima Wa Al Taaiyin, a RO13.5 million road project at Al Jabal Al Abyadh, and a RO12.4 million contract to pave roads in Al Qabil.

Other projects include a RO9.2 million upgrade of the road connecting Sinaw, Mahoot and Duqm, as well as a RO15.6 million contract to complete the remaining works on Sultan Turki bin Said Road across North and South A'Sharqiyah governorates, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
