FANGDA GROUP, a leading Chinese curtain-wall contractor, has secured a SAR1.15 billion ($306 million) contract to design, supply and install curtain-walls for two sections of Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium project located within Qiddiya City in Riyadh, reported Yicai Global.
For the project, Fangda has formed a joint venture with Saudi Arabia’s IKK Group that will undertake the construction of curtain-walls of the main stadium, museum and ancillary buildings, stated the report, citing the Beijing-based company.
Located in the city of Qiddiya, the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium is a flagship project under Saudi Arabia’s ‘Vision 2030’ initiative and is set to serve as a venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup matches.
During the mega event, Fangda said the stadium’s curtain-wall construction must withstand challenging conditions, including high wind loads at cliffside elevations, sandstorms and extreme heat, all of which place stringent demands on curtain-wall system design, material performance and on-site construction management.
The Chinese group said the contract covers design, material supply and installation, with a project duration of just under two-and-a-half years, stated the Yicai Global report.
Upon completion, the project is expected to become a landmark development for Fangda in the Middle East, enhancing its international profile, it added.
Meanwhile, Zamil Structural Steel Company, a key unit of Saudi-based Advanced Building Industries Company (Senaat), said it has secured the structural work contract for the National Tennis Center in Qiddiya City.
Located 45 km southwest of downtown Riyadh, it is a massive entertainment, sports and culture giga-project being developed by Qiddiya Investment Company, a Saudi PIF company.
The scope of work for Zamil Steel includes fabrication, supply and installation of the structural steelworks and external façades for the kingdom’s ambitious National Tennis Center, said Senaat in its bourse filing.
The contract worth SAR308.2 million was awarded by Qiddiya Tennis Center Joint Venture (comprising Bouygues Bâtiment International and Al Mabani General Contractors). The entire work will be completed within a 19-month period, it added.
