Intel has announced plans to help its authorised channel in Bahrain through increased support, including more training events and an intensified channel recruitment plan.

Samir Al Schamma, Intel's general manager for the GCC, said the company is planning to increase the number of its Intel product integrators and Intel Premier Providers in Bahrain, as part of its regional channel expansion programme.

The company recently held its Intel Channel Conference in Manama, and is now in the process of adding new channel members to its existing network in Bahrain.

Speaking in a Press round-table in Manama, Al Schamma reconfirmed the emerging opportunities in Bahrain and the company's commitment to work closely with its distributors in the country to support the growth of its authorised channel.

This programme is part of a series of initiatives designed to offer ground-up support to channel partners - in order for them to tap these opportunities and maximise technology proliferation in Bahrain.

'It is key for us to share information about our recently launched technologies with our channel members in Bahrain to ensure that they have the information that they need to plan and grow their business,' said Al Schamma.

'There are a number of opportunities today for local IT integrators, such as the one represented by mobile computing and the advent of the digital home era.'

Intel is stepping up its presence in most countries around the Middle East, Turkey and Africa region, with plans to go into new cities in every market in order to enhance its ties with local assemblers, through its channel programs which involve information sharing as well as technical and marketing support.

Intel Channel Programmes help resellers and system builders integrate, service and sell Intel products.

Members have access to many benefits including technical support, demo products, training, co-operative marketing funds, financial rebates and interactive marketing tools.

Intel currently has more than 125,000 channel program members around the world.

Intel, the world's largest chip maker, is also a leading manufacturer of computer, networking and communications products.
