Saudi Downtown Company, a unit of the country’s sovereign wealth fund PIF, has signed up Al Ajimi Contracting for the construction of a power substation at its premium mixed-use development - Al Khobar Downtown - coming up in the kingdom’s Eastern Province.

The Al Khobar Downtown Project is one of the flagship developments being delivered by Saudi Downtown to create vibrant urban destinations that enhance quality of life, stimulate economic growth, and support sustainable city development across the kingdom.

As per the deal, Al Ajimi Contracting will be responsible for the design and development of the power station as well as its associated electrical infrastructure, it added.

The Saudi PIF company said the Downtown master plan aims to transform a 538,000-sq-m site into a sustainable, pedestrian-friendly extension of the Al Khobar with premium projects such as the Al Khobar Downtown Mall & Boulevard: A central lifestyle, entertainment, and retail hub. 

The key highlights are central park, canal promenades and shaded linear walkways as well as high-end hotels, cinemas, and modern office spaces in addition to premium apartment complexes with private green roofs and courtyards.-TradeArabia News Service
