China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) has signed a contract to build North Kabd wastewater treatment plant in Kuwait, thus marking the latest infrastructure project under co-operation between the two countries through China's Belt and Road Initiative.
The key project is aimed at boosting Kuwait's capacity to collect, treat and reuse wastewater, supporting the country's Vision 2035 economic development strategy.
The agreement for the North Kabd Wastewater Treatment Plant and Related Works Project was signed yesterday (July 26) at Bayan Palace in Kuwait, by Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al Mashaan with Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Yang Xin in the presence of Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah.
The project reflects Kuwait’s commitment to implementing strategic projects that enhance infrastructure quality, promote environmental sustainability, improve the efficiency of wastewater treatment systems, keep pace with urban expansion, and support the country’s sustainable development goals and future vision.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister of Public Works, Noura Al Mashaan said the project is a major infrastructure and wastewater system development project in Kuwait and reflects deepened practical co-operation between Kuwait and China.
The project would strengthen the country's wastewater infrastructure and help boost co-operation between Kuwait and China in infrastructure development, she stated at the ceremony which was attended by other senior officials from the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait.-TradeArabia News Service
