Saudi Arabia starts new phase of real estate registration in Makkah

Saudi Arabia's Real Estate General Authority (REGA) has announced that it will begin registering properties in part of the Rie Dhakher neighbourhood in the Makkah region starting from September 13, with the registration window running through December 17.

The REGA said the Rie Dhakher area was selected according to specific criteria, and that the remaining regions, governorates and neighbourhoods that will be subject to real estate registration in various parts of Saudi Arabia will be announced subsequently.

Saudi REGA indicated that initial registration of properties in the designated areas and neighborhoods will be available through the electronic real estate registration platform.

Registration requires a title deed that meets legal requirements, the authority said, urging owners to verify their documents ahead of the registration period.

The area covered in the latest phase was selected according to specific criteria, while additional regions, governorates and neighbourhoods across Saudi Arabia will be announced at a later date, REGA said.

Owners who fail to register their properties within the specified period could face financial penalties under the Real Estate Registry (RER) system, with the amount determined by a specialised committee, the authority said.

The RER aims to enhance reliability and promote transparency in the real estate sector.

According to REGA, starting from the designated registration date, a property number and title deed will be issued for each registered property unit.

The title deed will include the property's data, description, condition, and associated rights and obligations, all linked to precise geospatial information. This will contribute to strengthening real estate infrastructure and ensuring the sustainability of the sector.-TradeArabia News Service
